Peptide Research Glossary
Definitions for the key terms used across peptide research: HPLC purity, certificate of analysis, lyophilisation, reconstitution, and more.
Certificate of Analysis (COA)
Lot-specific document that records available purity and quality testing information for a peptide batch.
HPLC purity
The percentage of a peptide sample that consists of the target compound, measured by high-performance liquid chromatography.
Lyophilised (freeze-dried)
A drying technique used to preserve peptides in a stable solid form by removing water under low pressure and temperature.
Mass spectrometry (MS)
Analytical technique used to evaluate peptide molecular mass when that test is available for a batch.
Peptide
A short chain of amino acids linked by peptide bonds, smaller than a protein and central to many biochemical research applications.
Peptide storage
Recommended conditions for keeping peptides stable in the laboratory.
Reconstitution
The process of dissolving a lyophilised peptide back into an aqueous solution for laboratory use.
Research Use Only (RUO)
Regulatory designation indicating a product is intended exclusively for laboratory or non-clinical research, not for human or veterinary use.
