What RUO status does and does not say about a research material.
What it establishes
That the material is supplied for laboratory investigation by qualified personnel, and that the supplier makes no clinical or safety claim for use in people or animals.
Common misreading
RUO is sometimes read as a quality grade or as an implicit permission for personal use. It is neither. It is a boundary on intended use.
Supplier obligations
Accurate labelling, batch traceability, and the absence of human-use claims in product content.
Buyer obligations
Local legal compliance, safe storage and handling, and use limited to legitimate research purposes.
Documentation
Analytical records are published online at batch level rather than shipped as paperwork in the parcel.
