CJC-1295 is a synthetic analogue of the first 29 amino acids of growth hormone-releasing hormone, modified to resist enzymatic breakdown. It exists in two forms that are frequently confused, with and without a drug affinity complex, and this guide separates them clearly, alongside the mechanism, the published evidence and how to verify research-grade material.

What is CJC-1295?

The form supplied here (molecular mass 3367.9, CAS 863288-34-0) is the tetrasubstituted GRF(1-29) analogue, often called modified GRF(1-29) or CJC-1295 without DAC. The DAC version carries an additional maleimide group that binds albumin and extends circulation time by days; it has a different mass (3775.4) and is catalogued separately as CJC-1295 DAC. How the reported mechanism works

GHRH receptor agonism

CJC-1295 acts on the GHRH receptor in the anterior pituitary, the physiological pathway that stimulates growth hormone release, and its four amino-acid substitutions slow degradation by dipeptidyl peptidase-4.

A different receptor from ghrelin mimetics

What the published evidence covers

The reference clinical pharmacology study, published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism in 2006, reported prolonged stimulation of growth hormone and IGF-I secretion in healthy adults. That study used the DAC form, which is exactly why the distinction above matters: it is not evidence about the non-DAC analogue supplied here. Development did not lead to an approved product, and no marketing authorisation exists.

How to verify a CJC-1295 research peptide is real and pure

Two tests answer two different questions: mass spectrometry confirms identity (expected molecular mass 3367.9), HPLC quantifies purity. Our specification is at least 98%. Store the lyophilised material sealed, dry and protected from light at 2 to 8 °C for routine laboratory use, colder for long-term archiving. After reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within the window your protocol defines; repeated freeze-thaw cycles degrade peptides. Regulatory status

CJC-1295 is not an authorised medicine in the European Union, the United Kingdom or the United States. It is named on the WADA Prohibited List (section S2, growth hormone releasing factors, among the GHRH analogues), prohibited at all times, so material must not be used in the context of sport in any form; the live list is the binding reference.
