Description
All presented information is based on scientific publications which can be found at the end of product description below.
Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide composed of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine — the primary intracellular antioxidant defense system in mammalian cells. Research Highlights 1. Antioxidant Defense — Most abundant non-protein thiol in cells. Neutralizes ROS and regenerates vitamins C and E.
2. Detoxification — Major phase II mechanism via glutathione S-transferases. Critical for hepatic drug metabolism.
3. Immune Function — T-cell activity and NK cell function depend on adequate intracellular GSH concentrations.
4. Mitochondrial Protection — Essential for membrane integrity and electron transport chain function.
5. Skin Health — Investigated for melanin synthesis inhibition and UV protection. References available upon request. The product is intended for scientific research and development purposes only. Chemical substances shall not be used as a drug, medicine, active substance, medical aid, cosmetic product, a substance for production of a cosmetic product neither for human consumption that is any food or food supplement or otherwise similarly used on humans or animals. Intended only for in-vitro research, such as Receptor-ligand binding studies, Enzyme activity assays, Cell proliferation assays, Cell signaling assays, Epitope mapping, etc.

Frequently asked questions
- Glutathione (GSH) is a tripeptide with structure γ-L-Glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine (γ-Glu-Cys-Gly). Molecular formula C₁₀H₁₇N₃O₆S, molecular weight ≈ 307.3 g/mol. The unusual γ-glutamyl bond makes it resistant to most peptidases.
- Batch-level CoA information is available where applicable, including the available purity data and any relevant assay notes for that specific lot.
- Store lyophilised GSH at -20 °C, sealed and protected from light and moisture - the cysteine thiol is highly susceptible to oxidation. Reconstitute in degassed buffer and minimize air exposure. Add chelators (EDTA) where appropriate to limit metal-catalyzed oxidation.
- Glutathione is the most abundant intracellular antioxidant. It is studied in oxidative stress models, redox biology, drug detoxification (Phase II conjugation), and as a substrate for glutathione peroxidase and S-transferase research.
- Glutathione appears in supplement markets in some jurisdictions, but Peptra Labs material is supplied only as a laboratory research reagent and must not be used as a medicine, supplement, cosmetic, or veterinary product.
