Description
All presented information is based on scientific publications which can be found at the end of product description below.
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a fundamental coenzyme functioning as a critical electron carrier and substrate for DNA repair, gene expression regulation, and cellular signaling enzymes. Research Highlights 1. Energy Metabolism — Essential cofactor in glycolysis, citric acid cycle, and oxidative phosphorylation.
2. Sirtuin Activation — Obligate substrate for SIRT1-7, controlling deacetylation of histones and proteins.
3. DNA Repair — PARP enzymes consume NAD+ for poly-ADP-ribosylation during damage repair.
4. Age-Related Decline — Progressive depletion across tissues correlates with metabolic dysfunction and inflammation.
5. Neuroprotection — Supplementation may protect against neurodegeneration through enhanced mitochondrial function. References available upon request. Frequently asked questions
- NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is technically a coenzyme (a pyridine nucleotide), not a peptide - molecular formula C₂₁H₂₇N₇O₁₄P₂, MW ≈ 663.43 g/mol. It is included in the Peptra Labs research catalog because of its central role in metabolism, sirtuin activity, and aging research.
- Batch-level CoA information is available where applicable and focuses on purity testing and lot details.
- Store lyophilised NAD+ at -20 °C, sealed and protected from light and moisture. NAD+ is hygroscopic and degrades to ADP-ribose under aqueous conditions, especially at neutral or alkaline pH. Reconstitute in slightly acidic buffer for best stability and use promptly.
- NAD+ is used in research on cellular bioenergetics, sirtuin enzyme activity (SIRT1-7), poly-ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) pathways, redox biology, and aging models. NAD+ levels decline with age in many tissues, motivating extensive aging-research interest.
- NAD+ appears in supplement markets in some jurisdictions, but Peptra Labs material is supplied only as a laboratory research reagent and must not be used as a medicine, supplement, cosmetic, or veterinary product.
