Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide derived from endogenous tuftsin with enhanced metabolic stability. Developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Russia, it combines anxiolytic, nootropic, and immunomodulatory properties. Research Highlights 1. GABAergic Modulation — Influences 45+ genes in the GABAergic system. Anxiolytic profile parallels benzodiazepines without sedation or dependency.
2. Enkephalin System — Potently inhibits enkephalin-degrading enzymes, prolonging endogenous enkephalin half-life.
3. Immunomodulation — Suppresses IL-6 expression in depression, modifies Th1/Th2 cytokine balance, alters 34 inflammation-related genes.
