Tirzepatide is a 39-amino-acid dual agonist of GIP and GLP-1 receptors. Marketed as Mounjaro (diabetes) and Zepbound (obesity), it is the first approved dual incretin receptor agonist. Research Highlights 1. Type 2 Diabetes — SURPASS trials showed HbA1c reductions of ~2.4% at 15mg, with substantial target achievement below 5.7%.

2. Weight Management — SURMOUNT trials demonstrated up to 22.5% Body-weight change over 72 weeks, approaching bariatric surgery outcomes.

3. Dual Incretin Mechanism — GIP complements GLP-1 by enhancing adipose insulin sensitivity and fat mobilization.
